Utah Senators for Wasteful Government Spending

Senator Tom Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma who unlike most Senators hasn't sought to "bring home the pork" to his constituents had three amendments come up for a vote today. They failed miserably. Only eleven other Republicans and one lone Democrat voted with him. None from Utah (though both from Arizona, and one from Nebraska).

His radical idea? Taking $500,000 previously earmarked for a sculpture park in Seattle, $200,000 for a parking lot in Omaha, and $200,000 for an animal shelter in Rhode Island and using the money instead to pay for Hurricane Katrina recovery.

Shamefully both of Utah's Republican senators, Senator Orrin Hatch & Senator Bob Bennett, think it is more fiscally responsible to mortgage our countries future to pay for some scultpures, a parking lot, and an animal shelter instead of cleaning up one of the worst natural disasters in history. (Oh, they'll do that too... just borrowing even more money to do it!)

why doesn't the american government help africa out with some of their problems and aids? What i found out is that the government is spending $26,000 per year to find out how american citizens clean their dishes! That is just a waist of good money that can be used for something way better!! My name is Lindsey...and i am 12 years old..and i just simply believe it is wrong for the american government to do such unuseful buying.
